Industry Training: Help Shape BC’s Tourism Workforce

Industry Training - Advisory Committee Members

Be a part of the provincial leadership committee that advises on apprenticeship and industry training programs. If you have strategic level experience and knowledge of apprenticeship programs, we would love to hear from you! Ideally we are looking for representation from the Okanagan, Cariboo Chilcotin, Vancouver Island or Northern BC and individuals with experience working in hotels, ski or golf, but we welcome receiving applications from all interested parties.

Start Date/Term: June 2011 - June 2012 with quarterly meetings approximately 10 hours/month. Related basic travel expenses are covered. Please feel free to contact us if you have specific questions, or fill out the form to apply now.

emerit Evaluators

We are looking for experienced housekeepers, front desk agents, guest service attendants, reservation sales agents, bartenders or food and beverage servers who have a passion for their profession. Ideally you are emerit certified as well. These roles evaluate potential emerit certification candidates in a workplace environment. We are looking for representation all across BC, but our highest demand areas currently are Prince George, Vancouver and Nanaimo.

Start Date/Term: Ongoing/flexible. Each evaluation takes approximately four hours per candidate. Please feel free to contact us if you have specific questions, or fill out the form to apply now.

Industry Committee - Participants for emerit Standards and Certification Review

If you are passionate about training and experienced in your occupation, there are a number of opportunities to help review and update emerit standards and certification. emerit certification is not required and we are looking for representation from all regions. We require six people each for 19 different occupations: Banquet Manager, Guest Services Attendant, Hotel General Manager, Housekeeping Room Attendant, Kitchen Helper Night Auditor, Reservation Sales Agent, Tourism/Visitor Information Counsellor, Food and Beverage Manager, Bartender, Food and Beverage Server, Front Desk Agent, Heritage Interpreter, Director Of Housekeeping, Freshwater Angling Guide/Hunting Guide and Essential Skills Educators.
