Are you a tourism, hospitality, or foodservice employer or skilled tradesperson? Are you committed to bettering your chosen industry and helping young people reach their potential? If so, then we’d like to hear from you.
At go2, our mandate includes maintaining and creating effective training programs that not only help employers gain access to a well-qualified workforce but help to prepare young people and students of all ages for the challenges of their exciting career.
Input from industry plays a crucial role in forming the direction and substance of our provincially recognized industry training programs. In fact, many on our advisory boards and committees have said that by getting involved, they learned a great deal while giving back to their chosen field.
In order to ensure that we have the most thorough and well-rounded training programs, all the components must be vetted by employers, educators and labour groups, and for that we encourage you to get involved by helping to determine:
- Program Structure: Are programs delivered in a way that makes sense to industry, works for the education system and satisfies the needs of the student/apprentice?
- Content: Does the curriculum teach skills that match on-the-job needs? Is the information current?
- Program Materials: Are texts and resources user-friendly? Are they comprehensive?
- Assessment Procedures: Are exams asking the right questions? Are practical assessments fair and useful?
Whether you can spare an hour a week or a few days a year, your knowledge and experience are valued! By sharing your expertise, you’ll boost your professional network, gain valuable insight from your peers and be reinvigorated by the opportunity to give back to the trade or industry that has given you a successful career.
In addition, go2 is often asked to recommend professionals to participate in national initiatives, such as those surrounding Red Seal content development and we turn to our industry professionals with experience and familiarity in how the development process works.
This is your industry, help shape training for future generations by letting us know you’re interested in getting involved.
Please send us a brief note via e-mail to Dennis Green, dgreen@go2hr.ca , and indicate your area of interest or expertise. We look forward to hearing from you!
