Effective May 2011, cook challengers go through an enhanced assessment process.
To challenge, go to:
- www.itabc.ca
- Click on Apprenticeship and Red Seal Programs – left sidebar
- Click on Cook (Professional Cook)
- Select appropriate credential (Professional Cook 1, 2 or 3)
- Click on Certification Challenge Application
The Challenge Application provides all the information required to challenge a credential. Here is a high level overview of the steps:
1. Prepare to Challenge the Assessment
a) Decide if you have the skills needed to challenge the assessment:
- Complete the Self-Assessment
- Review the Occupational Performance Standards
- Review the Assessment Information
2. Gather Your Evidence
a) Complete the challenge application form
- Complete all sections of the form and sign
b) Gather all portfolio evidence, including:
- FOODSAFE Level 1 Certificate
- Portfolio of Evidence Checklist
- Self-Assessment
- Work Experience Information (must include one of the following for each employer listed):
- Reference Letter (must include dates/hours worked and job duties)
- Employer (Third-Party) Declaration
- Notarized Statutory Declaration (self-employment requires 3 references)
- Record of employment / Payroll records
- include all the documents, letters and other evidence you need to support your application
3. Submit Your Application
a) Submit to go2:
- the original copy of your completed challenge application and evidence
- include payment of $120 payable to Industry Training Authority
