For the '2005-2008 Season' of Career Fairs go2 partnered with the BC Chefs' Association (BCCA) in order to highlight cooks and chefs as the career in tourism that is currently in highest demand — 9,927 more cooks and 1,557 more professional chefs are needed by 2015!
In total, go2 participated in nine different Career Fairs across BC, which provided us with the possibility of connecting with over 20,000 potential career seekers. The partnership with the BC Chefs' Association at these fairs was ideal since the interactive booth approach involving cooking demonstrations really attracted, engaged and inspired students. In addition, all the participating chefs were extremely enthusiastic and informative – they definitely helped showcase the diversity and scope of the tourism industry, as many students didn't realize that being a cook or chef was considered to be part of the tourism industry. This in turn helped go2 establish over 2000 qualified leads and solidify go2's message about being able to "MOVE ON UP" with a career in tourism!
Finally, we'd also like to recognize and thank everyone involved in helping make this year's Career Fairs such a great success. A special thank-you to Edgar Rahal, Tamás Rónyai, and Julius Pokomándy of the BC Chef's Association for helping connect go2 with numerous volunteer chefs.
