The BC Hotel Association and go2 joined efforts during the ‘2007-08 season’ of BC career fairs. Together, they attended four career fairs across BC, highlighting careers in the accommodations sector to thousands of students. Students were also given the opportunity to meet and speak with those currently working in the industry.Career fairs included: the Fraser Valley Education and Career Fair; the Vancouver Island Education and Career Fair; Vancouver Education and Career Fair; and Okanagan Education and Career Fair.In total, go2 and the BCHA directly reached an estimated 2,000 students. The accommodation industry – which includes hotels and other lodging operations – employed over 191,500 people in 2006 and this number is expected to only grow. Flexibility is a key reason so many people consider a career in this area - the opportunity to move to different regions and establishments, even different countries, is very attractive, as is the potential for good career growth, especially for those with appropriate training, skills and experience.go2 would like to give a special thanks to all the volunteers: Brent Markham, Training Coordinator, Sandman Jeff Hope, Regional Controller, Delta Vancouver Airport John Clisby, General Manager, Best Western Carlton Plaza Keith MacLean, Human Resources Manager, Middle Beach Lodge Nicole Hubler, Human Resources Manager, Laurel Point Inn Yvonne Waung, People and Culture Manager Vanessa, Management Trainee from University of Guelph Melissa Chhina, Front Office Manager Brock Martin, Pacific Palisades Rosemary Paterson, General Manager, Best Western Inn Lisa Barnes, The Cove Stan Martindale, Ramada Luminita Vinisi, Grand Okanagan Heather Schaub, Casa Loma Michael Wynne, Holiday Inn
