Three local chapters of the Canadian Culinary Federation (CCF), BC Chefs' Association, CCF Victoria and Okanagan Chefs' Association, collaborated with go2 at the 2009-2010 career fairs. The associations participated in four career fairs across BC, promoting awareness of a career in the culinary sector. A web portal on go2's website, culinary.go2hr.ca, was created to provide detailed information about the industry.
In early December 2009, go2 attended the Fraser Valley Education and Career Fair in Abbotsford and Vancouver Island Education and Career Fair in Nanaimo. go2 went to another two Education and Career Fairs in January 2010 in Vancouver and Kelowna.
In total, go2 and the chef associations directly reached an estimated 1,200 students, who had the opportunity to meet and speak with local chefs and chef apprentices, as well as try a sample of canape.
The diverse culinary culture in BC makes a fun and exciting career option for those who are passionate about cooking. The new Professional Cook program, a progressive certification system, offers flexibility in training and development and allows individuals to be recognized at the level they want.
go2 would like to thank members of the local chef associations for volunteering their time at the career fairs as well as making delicious food samples for fair attendees:
