Golf Club General Managers are senior executives who report to an owner or board of directors on all management functions. This includes operating procedures, practices and financial results of a golf club.
Responsibilities:
- Offer tourism information and promote local area
- Oversee golf shop operations
- Complete financial management tasks, such as development of a budget and managing the payroll
- Oversee office operations
- Oversee operation of retail and food and beverage outlets
- Manage human resource functions, such as recruitment, training and disciplining of staff
- Oversee turf management, maintenance and facility repair operations
- Recruit and retain golf club members
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A secondary school diploma is required
- Degree or diploma in business, tourism or recreation is an asset
- Previous management experience is required
- Knowledge of golf and golf club operations is required
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of turf grass management is necessary
- Financial management skills an asset
- Human resource management skills
- Operations management skills
- Sales and marketing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of food and beverage and retail operations is an asset
- Excellent organizational skills
- Membership in or certification from professional golf associations may be required
