Golf Course Head Professional

A head professional manages all golf and golf-related activities and business. They plan and implement budgets approved by the General Manager. They hire, train and supervise all related departmental staff and apply relevant marketing principles to assure that the wants and needs of all playing guests are consistently exceeded.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, market, promote and direct all golf activities
  • Prepare annual and monthly budgets for golf operations
  • Order supplies associated with golf activities
  • Provide golf lessons for all skill-levels of play
  • Design and conduct golf clinics/golf schools
  • Supervise golf shop and on-course personnel
  • Organize charges and collect fees for all golf-related activities
  • Market and organize all public and club tournaments
  • Interpret and enforce golf rules and regulations
  • Responsible for the general administration of any future golf memberships

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of marketing and financial management
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Member in good standing with the CPGA
  • Teaching and Coaching Certification from the CPGA
  • Supervisory experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Experience and knowledge of golf course operation
  • Expert knowledge of golf and rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Operational Health and Safety (OHS) practices
  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification an asset
  • Experience in golf instructions
