Dangle the Right Carrots to Entice Workers

Share |

As BC recovers from the economic downturn, it means that the labour shortage will return, with a vengeance. The aging population will shrink the pool of skilled workers, so prepare yourself for it. As we all fight for the same potential employees, your current employees know and understand their worth. As an employer, learn to think the right way and do the right things to attract and retain your most important asset: your employees.

The article, Employers: Dangle the right carrots to entice your workers outlines how you can boost your attractiveness to workers. Dr. Barbara Moses suggests you consider: improving your corporate culture, attracting workers of all ages, accepting body ornamentation, speaking to workers' motivation, being welcoming to all employees, casting wider hiring nets, helping with career reflection and recognizing that employee development is key.

Barbara Moses, PhD, is an organizational career management expert, speaker and author. Her new book, Dish: Midlife Women Tell the Truth about Work, Relationships, and the Rest of Life, was published this spring. http://www.bmoses.com/
