The Workforce Inclusion Initiative (WII-STEP) is a no fee service that effectively links BC tourism and hospitality employers to a community of skilled, job-ready candidates with disabilities. The goal of WII-STEP is to accelerate workforce inclusion of people with disabilities in our industry, and to complement, in the long-run, the consumer-focused Accessible Tourism Program that is managed via the Rick Hansen Foundation and its Global Accessibility Initiative.
WII-STEP is a collaborative effort between go2 and the British Columbia Construction Association's Skilled Trades Employment Program (STEP). It is a legacy of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, made possible by funding from 2010 Legacies Now and the Government of British Columbia.
Labour shortages will return and this unique recruitment initiative will link tourism workforce demand with an under-represented, highly capable pool of talent. If you are a tourism or hospitality employer and are interested in participating or learning more about WII-STEP please contact Jamie Millar-Dixon, Tourism Employment Specialist, at jamie@bccassn.com or 778-772-1170. Also visit the WII-STEP website at www.wiistepbc.ca.
Please note that this initiative is currently offered as a pilot and is available to tourism employers across BC.
