The process of achieving a Certification of Recognition (COR) is straightforward. With the right tools—whether your company is large or small—you and your employees can soon enjoy all the benefits of this worthwhile program.
To earn COR status as an employer, here's what you do:
- Review program materials on the go2 website
- Register with go2
- Register for Internal Auditor Training course (optional)
- Develop or modify your health and safety program and return-to-work program to meet COR requirements, as outlined in the program materials
- Retain an external auditor to perform a certification audit
- Successfully complete the audit
- Receive annual rebate cheque
The process is repeated every three years. In the second and third years, you must perform internal maintenance audits to help keep your COR status. If you want to perform your own internal audits, a company representative needs to complete go2's Internal Auditor Training program.
What the audit measures:
The audit includes interviews, a documentation review and first-hand observation. The auditor will be assessing these aspects of your business:
- Management leadership and commitment to the program
- An effective joint occupational health and safety committee
- Hazard identification, assessment and control systems
- Safe work procedures and communication of these methods to employees
- Inspection of premises, workplace and equipment
- Procedures for investigating accidents and other incidents
- Worker training systems
- Safety program administration and record-keeping
- Injury management and return-to-work programs
