One of the first steps to becoming COR certified (and therefore receiving a 15% discount on your WorkSafeBC premiums) is to identify an internal COR champion to lead the process for your organization and become a knowledgeable resource about the COR process. This champion has the option of completing a complimentary Internal Auditor Training session put on by go2.
This in-class session is one full day of interactive, workshop-style learning that provides an overview of the COR program, how to prepare for and conduct a COR audit, and how to write and submit a completed report. The skills gained by completing this session will also enable the certified Internal Auditor to conduct an internal gap analysis, and perform their own internal maintenance audits, rather than having an external auditor perform this every year. The session is preceded by 8 hours of pre-work, including an assignment and exam, that must be completed one week prior to the classroom session. This work is designed to give everyone in the session a common base of knowledge about the COR process, and to establish an understanding of the opportunities and challenges their own organizations may face in the COR certification process. Upon completion of the session, student auditors are required to perform a student audit on their own organization within the following 12 months.

COR Internal Auditor Training Prerequisites:
It is recommended that your company's staff responsible for health and safety attend the training. This individual should be familiar with all aspects of your safety management system. But please note that the certification belongs to the individual who completes the training. If your internal auditor leaves your company - and you wish to continue to perform the maintenance audits internally - you must send another representative to attend the training. If you choose to have an external auditor perform the maintenance audits, you will not require an internal auditor.
