WorkSafeBC has data about injuries in your workplace and how much they’re costing you. Now WorkSafeBC is sharing this information with you online to help you get concrete ideas of how to improve your health & safety performance and reduce costs.
Accessed through the Employer Portal on WorkSafeBC.com, the “Business Planning Toolkit” is an interactive web application offering different perspectives on your company’s overall health, safety and wellness performance.
The Business Planning Toolkit is broken down into three parts. The first section illustrates your company’s experience rating history plus a projection of what that rating would look like — and cost you — over the next three years, if your current performance continues. You can also apply filters to see how reductions in your claim costs could affect your experience rating over the next three years. Check out how different the future looks if your claim costs are reduced by 20 per cent.
The second part compares your company’s health, safety and wellness performance with your peers. You can pinpoint how your business fares based on key metrics like experience rating, injury rate and duration. The scattergrams illustrate whether injury prevention or injury management are the area that you may need to focus on to improve performance.
The third tool offers a more in-depth look at what types of injuries and claims are driving your costs. Two distribution maps (one by claims count and one by claim cost) illustrate your organization’s types of injuries and claims over the last five years. The maps are filterable by different categories such as accident type and occupation to help you identify your cost drivers and areas where your health, safety and wellness efforts should be focused.
For each of these data channels, you can print or save the graphs in their various modifications, so you may use them in presentations, business cases, or to supplement internal reports. The Employer Profile Summary Report is also downloadable from the homepage of the Business Planning Toolkit.
In addition to the Business Planning Toolkit, WorkSafeBC also introduces the “Submit Claim Document” application. It allows you as an employer to submit Section 30 Earnings, Return to Work Plans, and Accident Investigations (when necessary) to WorkSafeBC electronically.
You can access both the Business Planning Toolkit and the Submit Claim Document applications through the Employer Portal on WorkSafeBC.com, using your employer ID and password to log in. You will need to gain access to these applications through the designated access administrator in your organization.
