Resort Worker Fatality Reminds Us Safety is Not an Option

Share |

Deerhurst Resort has been dealing with the tragic workplace death of one of their veteran golf course employees this past June. While riding on the back of a two-person golf cart for a short distance to the club house, Gerry fell off hitting his head and suffering a concussion that he eventually succumbed to.

The deviation from a simple, safe work practice cost Gerry his life. A letter from Deerhurst not only challenges the habits and safety cultures of golf resorts, but also serves as a sobering reminder to all industries and workplaces that you cannot overlook safe work practices.

go2 received the permission to share this powerful letter to all employers in BC's tourism and hospitality. Please click here to view the letter from Deerhurst Resort.
