Our Hotel is an independent hotel on Kingsway famous for its friendly service and comfortable rooms catering to different budget levels.  The hotel is currently looking for a frontdesk agent possessing unique qualities and skill-sets compatible to the long-term visions of the company. 

Job responsibilities and duties:

  • Acquiring and providing knowledge on hotel and tourism 
  • Providing information on local travel and attractions such as bus routes/schedules, restaurants, movie theatres, and events etc
  • Responding to guests' concerns, queries and complaints 
  • Answering enquiries regarding hotel services and facilities by letter, email, telephone and in person
  • Maintaining inventory of vacancies and reservations
  • Determining guest needs and taking reservations
  • Maximizing revenue generation by using the correct sales techniques
  • Processing incoming reservations, requests, cancellations and changes
  • Processing check-ins, room assignments, extensions, and check-out 
  • Compiling and verifying daily records, guest accounts, and receipts
  • Performing cashier duties such as collecting cash and charging credit cards
  • Assisting in the storage of luggage when required
  • Learning and using computers and office equipment effectively
  • Liaising with housekeeping, maintenance and supervisors to improve operations and solve problems
  • Following-up on communication, administrative operations, guest services, and financial transactions
  • Following security procedures and protecting privacy of guests
  • Participating in hotel marketing opportunities
 
Job Requirements  
  • Strong business sense is a must
  • Excellent spoken and written English, other languages a big plus
  • Sales or marketing background is required
  • Prior knowledge or background in hospitality or service industry is mandatory
  • Ability to comply with company safety and security procedures
  • Efficacy in various Microsoft computer applications 
  • Positive attitude towards guests, co-workers and the hospitality industry
  • Ability to apply excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Eager to provide friendly service without prejudice
  • High degree of efficiency and initiative
  • Solid understanding of Vancouver and its attractions
  • Flexible to work a variety of shifts including weekends and overnights
  • Having a desire to keep learning and improving
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and managing its dynamics
  • Keen interest in social networking such as facebook, youtube and photo-sharing
  • Wiling to learn new technologies such as PS3, Wii, online collaboration
