Destination Canada 2011 Job Fairs: Post Job Openings to Attract International Mobile Youth

Share |

Each year, the BC Provincial Nominee Program promotes working and living in BC in a job fair and information forum called Destination Canada. The job fair is organized by the Embassy of Canada in France in partnership with public agencies for employment and international mobility: Pôle emploi international in France, and FOREM, BIJOB (ACTIRIS), VDAB in Belgium. Last year, Destination Canada 2010 saw a total attendance of 2,600 candidates, and received comprehensive media coverage in Europe and in Canada.

This event provides a unique opportunity for Canadian employers to recruit internationally by attending the event in person or by posting jobs. The candidates attending these forums will be from a variety of backgrounds and hold a myriad of qualifications including IT professionals, software developers, aerospace and other engineers and senior managers. BC PNP staff will be present to answer questions that specifically pre-selected French and Belgian nationals may have about working and immigrating to BC.

Benefits Available through Destination Canada

This initiative reflects the Government of Canada’s commitment to support the objectives outlined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act which respects the bilingual character of Canada and supports the development of minority official languages communities in Canada as set out in the Strategic Plan to Foster Immigration to Francophone Minority Communities.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is furthering these objectives by giving francophone migrants an incentive to move to locations outside Quebec and by making recruitment easier for employers who want to hire them, through a streamlined and accelerated process.

A major benefit for Destination Canada participants is that they receive "front of the line" processing at both Service Canada and CIC. This saves the employer a lot of time and makes the prospect of hiring someone who attends Destination Canada extremely attractive.
