To build on the 2010 Winter Games legacy, go2 commissioned a post-Games survey among tourism and hospitality operators across BC. The purpose of this survey was to
- Gain an understanding of how businesses prepared for, and managed, during the Games from a human resource perspective; and,
- Help tourism and hospitality operators whose businesses will be impacted during the 2012 games in London and 2014 games in Sochi.
The survey was completed in May 2010 and the report contains analysis of the following key findings:
- How businesses’ sales and staffing needs were impacted depending on how close they were to Olympic venues
- Generally businesses expected higher sales levels and staffing needs than materialized
- Heightened expectations may be the result of not fully understanding the Olympic visitor
- Businesses offer five key recommendations to those planning for London and Sochi
