Kelowna, BC, October 28, 2010 – Bringing with him a passion for fine food and wine and an extensive resume that includes over 25 years in the hospitality industry, Trevor Hanna has been appointed Director of Food & Beverage for Big White Ski Resort. As Director of Food & Beverage, Trevor’s role will include overseeing the extensive food and beverage operations for the popular resort.
Trevor has come a long way since his early days as a busboy. Early on, discovering a love for working with the public, Trevor was blessed with the opportunity to work with great mentors who helped shape him into the hospitality professional that he is today. After graduating with honours from the Hotel Management program at Confederation Collage in Thunder Bay, Ontario, he went on to further his understanding in food preparation by enrolling in chef school where he became a Red Seal Chef. Seven years after working as a chef in the culinary trade, Hanna jumped into management and went on to work at Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Edmonton as Director of Catering and Conference Services, the Calgary Tower as Food & Beverage Manager and the Deerfoot Inn and Casino as Hotel General Manager and Director of Food & Beverage. Most recently, Trevor was the Accommodations Program Manager for the 2010 Winter Games that supported Games Security Screening for 2000 staff with 50,000 bed nights over 60 days of operation.
“Trevor is a multi-talented individual and leader,” says Michael Ballingall, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Big White Ski Resort. “His steadfast commitment to world class guest experiences combined with his wide breath and depth of knowledge and industry background makes him a natural fit for the position. We are thrilled that he has chosen to join our team and look forwarding to continuing to develop our food and beverage experience into the future.”
Big White has a wide variety of dining options for guests ranging from casual dining in one of the local pubs, to an on-mountain bakery with fresh artisan breads. The resort offers a feast of restaurants, lounges, coffee houses and delis with great food to dine-in or take out.
