Vancouver, April 1, 2010 – go2 – BC’s tourism industry human resources organization – is pleased to announce that Sarah Flockton from Coast Blackcomb Suites in Whistler is the winner of its Gold Medal Customer Service Photo Contest. Nominated by Coast Blackcomb, the winning photo features a handmade medal tally and event board that was updated daily by Flockton.

Flockton’s creation was appreciated by both Coast employees and guests. Hotel staff, visitors and local bus drivers checked the tally and event schedule for daily updates and to answer guests’ inquiries. A friendly rivalry was established among the multicultural workplace. “Daily trivia” questions were also posted on the board to encourage interaction with guests.

The contest was created to recognize outstanding tourism professionals during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Tourism and hospitality industry employers, employees and 2010 Winter Games volunteers were invited to submit photos or videos capturing heart warming stories of excellent customer service during Games time.

"Our industry is all about creating a memorable visitor experience and the Winter Games were an excellent opportunity to showcase our talent,” said Arlene Keis, CEO for go2. "We want to recognize individuals who went above and beyond to ensure visitors had a great time during their stay in town.”

The winner of go2’s contest was awarded a three day, two night trip for two at Silver Star Mountain Resort. Two contest runner-ups were also chosen: Laura Grant and Lisa Mah of Hyatt Regency Vancouver, and North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce’s Misha Wilson. The two runner-ups each received a $100 gift card to Cactus Club Café. go2 thanks all of those who submitted their photos.
