High school students who are interested in a career in tourism don’t have to wait for graduation to get started on their career. A number of programs let students get an early start or simply explore tourism careers:
- The Secondary School Apprenticeship (SSA) lets students begin a tourism apprenticeship while still in high school. With this head start, students can be up to 2 years ahead of their peers by graduation. Scholarships are available for some students
- The Canadian Academy of Travel & Tourism (CATT) gives high school students the opportunity to build the foundation of a tourism career while staying in school. Grades 10 through 12 follow the regular curriculum with a "specialization" in tourism
- The Tourism Career Awareness Program (TCAP) provides senior secondary students with an inside look at careers in tourism, with presentations by tourism professionals
