Food and Beverage Services

BC’s Food and Beverage industry generates $11.3 billion a year in sales, and employed 145,500 people in 2017.

With a projected rate of annual employment growth of 1.5 per cent, there will be approximately 48,000 new job openings in the next 10 years (2017 - 2027). Food and beverage sector accounts for 50% of tourism jobs, and 43% of forecast new job openings.

This sector encompasses all types of establishments that supply food and beverages for consumption, from fine dining enterprises, ethnic restaurants and institutional food outlets to catering firms, pubs and lounges. Food and Beverage is also a major employer of youth and a training ground for many employees who are beginning their working careers.
