A golf course starter controls pace of play on golf course by directing players to the first tee at appropriate times.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information regarding course, play time and other golf-related issues
  • Act as an information centre for golf and real estate development facts
  • Verify that all revenues have been properly recorded by inspecting receipts for all players before they depart to course, practice tee or range
  • Dispense range balls in accordance with club policies
  • Determine and track rate of course play
  • Maintain clean and orderly appearance of starter’s area/booth at all times
  • Arranges players in proper starting order and assign appropriate tees
  • Assign carts
  • Assign caddies
  • Train and instruct caddies in proper duties and etiquette
  • Supply players with score cards, pencils and rules of play
  • Advise players and caddies of golf course conditions
