About Us

The Revelstoke Heritage Railway Society , a non-profit charitable organization was formed in 1988 with a dream of bringing railway history back to Revelstoke. The Society owns and operates the Revelstoke Railway Museum which opened in July 1994. The Museum is recognized as one of the best small railway museums in Canada. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history, heritage and significance of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company in the region, for the education, enlightenment and inspiration of present and future generations. In addition to the Museum which is located in downtown Revelstoke, the Society also operates a seasonal gift store and interpretive centre at Craigellachie, the site where the ’Last Spike’ was driven on November 7, 1885.
