osition: Accountant, Retail

Department: Finance

Reports to: Controller, Hockey Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accountant, Retail will see all aspects of accounting and finance as it relates to our Retail Operations division and will have the opportunity to make this role their own. The incumbent is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, monitoring of the annual budget, and forecasting. This role will also be responsible for providing recommendations and guidance on implementing policies, procedures, and best practices.

This role will focus on:

Preparing monthly financial statements, maintaining monthly balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations, and monitoring the budget with monthly variance analysis and forecasting
Assisting Senior Manager, Retail in preparing annual budget and quarterly forecast and cost benefit analysis for new retail projects
Preparing year end audit working papers
Preparing and distributing weekly sales flash report to management and Retail Operations team
Reconciling month end inventory balances, analyzing discrepancies between Yellow Dog and D365 accounting system and supporting Yellow Dog and Square POS maintenance
Assisting with and supervising inventory counts including periodic cycle spot counts
Reconciling internal billings and ensuring appropriate departmental approvals and coding are in place
Ensuring vendor invoices are processed on a timely basis and match to receiving reports, follow-up on discrepancies
Preparing monthly PST remittances
Working main concert nights to ensure compliance with inventory and payment processing controls
Updating current policies, procedures, systems, and best practices for the retail operations team
Documenting and monitoring compliance of internal controls and procedure manuals

Responsibilities & Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE:

3 years of general accounting experience
Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, inventory systems, Microsoft D365 Business Central or other accounting systems
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate financial results to management
Self-starter attitude with ability to work in a team and with minimal supervision
Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA or enrolled in the CPA program
This is an onsite role at our offices in downtown Vancouver
