ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Accounting & Finance, the Accounting Manager sits in the Accounting & Finance (“A&F”) Team. This the successful candidate in this role will lead the Financial Reporting function within the organization, working both internally on a cross-functional basis, and externally with supporting business partners.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

Be the company go-to person for all Financial Reporting related conversations.
Lead annual year-end reconciliation and work with our auditors to prepare the published Financial Statements.
Lead the month and quarter-end reconciliation process and the preparation of a monthly management report for the Leadership Team.
Continuously improve the reporting structures & dashboards within the A&F department, to give stakeholder prompt, clear & accurate information for decision making.
Preparation of tax working papers. Oversee tax planning strategies and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations at local, provincial, and federal levels.
Oversee the running of the company Payroll function.
Provide support, mentoring & coaching to the junior members of the team. These include Intermediate and Junior Accountants.
Closely partner with the Financial Planning Manager to optimize the cash management, foreign exchange, budgeting, and forecasting processes across all departments.
Partner with our Analytics & Insights (A&I) team as they look to optimize the data architecture across the organization.
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks, and present findings to senior management.
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure compliance with regulations, and mitigate financial risks.
Partner with the Director of Operations to analyze cost structures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS

5+ years’ experience in a financial management position.
Demonstrated track record of financial leadership and successful team management.
Experience with complex budgets, forecasting, internal transactions, and executive presentations.
Experience with process analysis and improvement.
Strong problem-solving skills to address financial challenges and provide actionable solutions.
Superior attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with proven ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
Excellent relationship building skills for developing and keep effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
Advanced level in Excel and Word, and intermediate level in PowerPoint and other MS office programs.
