Job Profile
The Catering Services Expert delivers outstanding service and operations in the banquet department. This individual ensures food and beverage is served to guests with the utmost care and attention. The Catering Services Expert exceeds guest expectations by answering questions and providing excellent guest service while engaging the guest. This individual supports the Banquet Manager by leading the banquet team.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Manage and coach team of servers, leads, and other banquets team members.
•Develop employees (create expectations for continual improvement, provide challenging tasks and assignments) including scheduling, development, performance, training, and employee relations.
•Address guests’ service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.
•Acts as point of contact for guests.
•Responsible for ensuring event rooms, furnishings, electronics, dishware, and supplies are organized and in good order.
•Coordinate customer experience with kitchen.
•Assigns side work as necessary such as polishing silverware, folding/rolling napkins, filling condiment caddies, setting up all side stations, cleaning, and ensuring buffets are properly completed.
•Ensures guests are greeted, tickets are collected, and guest flow is managed.
•Assists team to maintain buffets and cleaning of the event both during the event and after close.
•Coordinate with guest regarding placement of event materials and/or other favors at guest place settings.
•Ensure opening and closing procedures for functions and bar are executed properly.
•Assist in managing Cordo Restaurant, as required.
•Ensures comprehension and compliance with all departmental and company policies and procedures.
•Inspect the scheduled function area/room for cleanliness, working condition and proper furniture/equipment setup. Rectify any deficiencies with banquet team.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Qualifications
•1 year in a leadership position is required; leadership in a food and beverage environment would be an asset.
•Strong knowledge of food and beverage is required.
•1 year experience in banquets is required.
•Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
•Possess a positive attitude and works well with other team members.
•Full-time, open availability is required as required by the event.
•Excellent command of the English language – written and verbal. Additional languages are an asset.
•Very proficient in computer programs: easily become competent with food and beverage computer systems and technology, from both a hardware and software perspective. Strong MS Office skills.
•Completion of a food service administration, hotel or restaurant management course is an asset.
•Serving it right certification mandatory.
•Food safe certificate is an asset.
•Super host certification is an asset.
•Excellent organization and leadership skills.
•Must be willing to work full-time without restrictions.
•Must be willing to work in Kamloops, BC
•Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Working conditions
•Fast-paced environment, loud, bustling, crowded environment.
•Availability includes: mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical requirements
•Ability to repetitively push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds.
•Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
•Balance a tray of up to 10 – 25lbs while walking.
•Occasional ascending or descending flights of stairs
