Job Description

The Cook will be actively involved in the day to day operations of the Vancouver Curling Club Kitchen & Bar. The first priority of this role will be to assist with food prep and to provide high quality food and service to the members and guests of the curling club. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

Depending on your availability, skills, and interests this could be a full or part time role with options to be involved in different aspects of the lounge such as menu development or bartending. We are a small kitchen and bar, most of our staff wear many different hats jumping from food prep to server to bussing. We are focused on doing what we can to provide the best experience to our curling club members and guests.

As a seasonal facility and are looking for a cook to fill the role who can start early September 2024 and be available to work until April 2025. Staff are laid off for the summer, usually with a job offer in hand to return to work the following season.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities:
– Provide a courteous and welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.
– Prepare food items following established preparation guidelines.
– Demonstrate competency and safe practices with all kitchen equipment.
– Provide a complete knowledge of food and bar menu items to members, including ingredients and preparation methods.
– Ensure the kitchen and lounge area is kept clean and well-organized at all times.
– Ensure the kitchen is consistently re-stocked and management is made aware of any inventory needs.
– Communicate to management any equipment maintenance issues.

Qualifications:
– A minimum of one year experience in the food and beverage industry.
– Current FOODSAFE Level 1 certification.
– Current Serving It Right certification is an asset.

Salary/Wage

18.00 - 22.00
