Founded in 1996, Tourism Sun Peaks is a not-for-profit, member-based destination marketing and management organization, with over 1,500 members representing accommodations, activities/ attractions, restaurants, retail and homeowners. Our team is a group of outdoor enthusiasts and we love our backyard. Our vision is to be the destination of choice for travelers seeking a remarkable mountain resort experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Market Development Coordinator is a diverse role and is part of a fast-paced and dynamic environment! Reporting to the Market Development Manager, the successful candidate will be extremely detail oriented with a high level of professionalism and strong time management skills. The ability to multi task across various projects and balance priorities is paramount.
With no two days the same, the coordinator is responsible for supporting the team’s activities as related to travel trade, earned media, the Sun Peaks Centre along with general tracking and administration support.
This in-office role is typically Monday through Friday (37.5 hours/week) with some evening and weekend shifts may be required.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
• Foster a positive and professional relationship with Tourism Sun Peaks members and industry
• Coordinate detailed and complex Familiarization (Fam) tour itineraries and site visits
• Prepare and deliver welcome packages for VIP’s
• Fulfill earned media requests (i.e. image library, fact checking, B-roll etc.)
• Format and distribute press releases
• Format and distribute quarterly trade newsletter
• Execute Tour Operator web audits
• Work closely with the Market Development Manager to register and coordinate details for trade shows
• Develop and maintain training materials, presentations and the travel trade and media webpages
• Field inquires related to the Sun Peaks Centre
• Offer exceptional administrative support to the Market Development team
• Create and maintain a content calendar for cooperative marketing campaigns
• Maintain the Fam tracking report
• Prepare expense reports for in-market contracted representatives
• Provide support for other departments and team members as needed
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Post-secondary education in tourism, hospitality, or business administration or 2+ years of related experience
• Understanding of a destination marketing and management organization an asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced competency in Microsoft Office
• Organizational proficiency in a high pace environment
• Detail oriented with strong time management skills
• Solid problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation
• Proven ability to manage work flows on multiple projects with competing deadlines
• Ability to be flexible in a dynamic, changing environment
• A thorough understanding of the Sun Peaks brand, experiences and product offerings an asset
• Excellent interpersonal skills, highly collaborative, can build rapport and credibility quickly
• Strives to deliver extraordinary guest experiences
• Passion and energy for the outdoor and mountain lifestyle
• Intermediate or advanced skiing and/or mountain biking ability would be an asset
