Duties:
Currently, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic, conservation-minded individual to fill the seasonal full-time position of Fishing Guide tentatively scheduled between May 1 and Sept. 30, 2025. Duties for the position include, but are not limited to: competent operation of vessels (8.5m, ≤5T); refuelling; boat and boat equipment maintenance and repair; cleaning and provisioning of vessel(s); west coast tidal water fishing techniques including down rigging, jigging, prawning; preparation and maintenance of fishing equipment; processing of catch.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Requirements:
The energetic applicant must have all mandatory certifications including a minimum of SVOP, SVD-BS, ROC-M and Marine Basic First Aid (or their equivalents) in addition to extensive coastal boating and 2+ years tidal water fishing experience in all weather and sea conditions. A basic understanding of boat mechanics, the ability to effectively troubleshoot and emergency preparedness are invaluable skills while operating independently in remote areas and in the absence of readily available assistance. Working on and around boats is physically demanding and necessitates both dexterity and intuition.

Additional Information:
Refined interpersonal skills are essential due to a high level of guest-oriented care, that is the ability to communicate effectively and in a manner that is engaging, entertaining and professional all the while ensuring the safety and comfort of guests. Sharing your passion for fishing, accurately describing points of interest, interpreting marine wildlife, and storytelling are key components of the job.
