Summary of General Manager, Visitor Services role:
Join our team as the General Manager, Visitor Services and take the lead in shaping a thriving, customer-focused environment at the Visitor Centre! In this engaging role, you’ll have the opportunity to inspire excellence, drive measurable business success, and foster meaningful relationships with both members and the community. With keen attention to detail, you’ll oversee all aspects of operations, from team development and sales strategies to volunteer engagement and budget management. This is an exciting chance for a results-oriented leader, who enjoys utilizing technology in creative and efficient ways, to make a positive impact in a vibrant, fast-paced industry. A successful candidate for this role is highly organized, passionate about sales, team-building, and delivering top-tier customer service.
This position is in-person working out of the Visitor Centre, requiring the successful candidate to be located in the Greater Victoria Region. It is a full-time position, 35 hours per week, with the occasional need to attend events on evenings and weekends. The salary is between $62,600-$73,550.
What you need to bring:
• Five or more years of sales management experience in tourism, travel, retail, hospitality, hotels or a related field.
• Degree in Business is preferred.
• Experience managing a busy retail environment, managing a reservations business unit, or supervising travel agents is required.
• Sales-driven achiever, who has proven experience and has achieved results.
• Adaptable, versatile, patient and positive in a changing work environment.
• Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Technologically inclined, with the ability to incorporate new technology to create more productive and efficient systems (i.e. E-Comm solutions, AI productivity solutions, and digital video display technology).
• Experience with inventory management.
• Experience mentoring and managing sales teams and providing guidance and oversight of plans.
• Highly organized and with great attention to detail.
• Experience establishing efficient and effective work schedules and managing sales incentives.
• A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
