Wage & Paygrade: $20.53/hour (PG74) Plus 10% in lieu of Benefits and Vacation

The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 113-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15 day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. We are looking for a talented individual to join our PNE Grounds Maintenance team and ensure all areas of the Playland site, including public-access locations in buildings and rides, are maintained in a clean and debris-free manner. Supports the Grounds Maintenance team to ensure site cleanliness standards are being adhered to.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
What will you do this year?
In your role as a Playland Groundskeeper I, your primary accountabilities will be to:
-Operate equipment including, but not limited to: pressure washers, leaf blowers, floor buffers
-Paint and compete touch-ups
-Conduct minor repairs on Grounds Maintenance equipment
-Conduct regular-interval inventory counts
-Treat and remove in-ground weeds
-Remove debris in active ride areas, following established lock-out procedures
-Ensure that ride units are kept clean
-Provide guidance for Grounds Maintenance team members
-Monitor cleanliness of park while in operation, including all washrooms
-Complete before and after season clean-up of both the Playland site and related Grounds Maintenance equipment
-Arrange for the placement and storage of all waste receptacles, cleaning supplies and Grounds Maintenance equipment
-Adhere to PNE policies and guidelines
-Ensure that proper PNE dress code is adhered to at all times
-Perform other related duties as required by the Manager
What else?
-Knowledge of materials, methods, and cleaning tools used in janitorial/site clean-up work
-Previous experience working in a janitorial capacity is required
-Ability to arrange an effective work schedule under minimum supervision
-Ability to interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner
-Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
-Sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to permit the performance of assigned tasks
-Must possess valid WHIMIS certification
-Must be able and willing to work a variety of shifts, including evening, day shifts, and weekends
-Must be available to work up to full-time hours (40 hours per week)
-Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check
