Mt Seymour is Vancouver’s family owned and operated ski area delivering a relaxed West Coast feel only 30 minutes drive from downtown Vancouver. We offer a variety of recreation activities including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, summer camps and activities. We are currently hiring for a full time year round heavy duty mechanic to join our Operations Team.

Job Description:

Title: Heavy-Duty Mechanic

Department: Mountain Operations

Reports to: Heavy-Duty Mechanic Foreman

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a varied and interesting position responsible for maintaining our company’s entire fleet of vehicles and equipment, including loaders, snow groomers, snowplows and buses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will identify and prioritize vehicle maintenance requirements.

You will carry out vehicle equipment maintenance and repairs on all Mt Seymour vehicles and machinery as needed.

You will ensure that all manufacturer’s guidelines and government regulations regarding vehicle maintenance and repair are followed.

Shipping and receiving of materials as required.

Maintaining records regarding maintenance work performed, materials used, quality and cost control.

You will ensure a high standard in all finished work, while remaining cost effective.

You’ll be responsible for thorough record keeping and the reporting of equipment status including but not limited to work performed.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must hold an Inter-Provincial Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman’s ticket or equivalent experience.

Ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision.

Willing and able to work in all weather conditions while performing labour intensive duties.

Own vehicle required to travel to and from work.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Full time year round position

Position will work four ten-hour day shifts per week, Monday to Friday during the non-operating season which starts mid-April.

During the operating season which is December until mid-April the position will work a combination of day and evening shifts, (five eight hour shifts per week) which will include weekends as the resort is open seven days per week.
