Job Description

Are you looking to grow your HR career in a dynamic, exciting environment? Hotel Grand Pacific is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join our team. An independent property located on Victoria’s beautiful inner harbour, we have a welcoming and supportive community that is committed to excellence.

Reporting to the Director of HR, the chosen candidate can expect to develop their experience as an HR generalist by gaining exposure to a variety of functions. The HR Advisor will bring a positive and approachable personality to the role and contribute to a culture that values diversity, collaboration, and respect.

This is a full-time, onsite position working Monday to Friday. There may be occasions when evening or weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties:
• Act as an advisor to employees on all company policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate, confidential employee information in the HRIS
• Assist department managers with full-cycle recruiting
• Ensure an organized onboarding process for new hires
• Facilitate effective orientation sessions and service training
• Maintain a positive company culture by taking an active role in employee engagement and recognition initiatives
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

What We’re Looking For:
• Proven knowledge of HR procedures, including significant knowledge of the hiring process
• A clear understanding of best practices and current laws and regulations specific to HR
• Positive and effective verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a genuine approach to building relationships
• A high level of initiative and organization, with the ability to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to use resources and a solid judgement to make decisions and solve problems
• Able to combine thorough attention to detail with “big picture” thinking
• Accountable and conscientious, with a dedication to continuous learning
• A high level of integrity, with a commitment to ethics and confidentiality
• Experience with conflict management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Previous experience with HR Information Systems is preferred
• Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management is an asset
• CPHR or CPHR Candidate preferred.

Salary/Wage

55,000/yr
