Manager, Marketing and Communications – Whistler Olympic Park
Whistler Olympic Park is a world-class destination for outdoor recreation activities and Nordic sports, located just south of Whistler in the stunning Callaghan Valley. Established for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Park’s incredible facilities are now enjoyed by both high-performance athletes and recreational guests alike.
Manager, Marketing and Communications is responsible for creating and implementing related strategy for Whistler Olympic Park’s services and programs while working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and carry out effective work plans. This role supports other marketing initiatives within Whistler Sport Legacies, as required. Duties also include creating engaging content for various marketing channels to increase brand awareness, engagement and revenue while liaising with Managers.
Regular Full Time role is fast-paced, especially during the winter season, and requires flexibility to assist the team with other activities or initiatives including ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
• Oversee the development and execution of WOP marketing program in collaboration with the Managing Director
• Develop and manage annual WOP strategy including media, creative, and promotional strategies in collaboration with key partners in support of organizational objectives
• Develop and execute guest experience events in collaboration with other departments
• Lead production of advertising and key WOP marketing collateral
• Conduct market research and surveys to gather insights into customer behavior and preferences
• Manage key communication channels such as website, newsletter and social media
• Develop and leverage new and existing co-marketing partnerships to generate incremental marketing exposure
• As WOP spokesperson, communicate and represent the brand to the community
• Develop WOP creative assets and photo library
• Lead coordination of WOP photo and video shoots as required
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and partners to achieve marketing and communication goals
• Manage WOP social media channels including content development and community management
• Design and publish WOP e-newsletter while ensuring mailing list is up-to-date to increase subscription and reach
• Support other marketing initiatives within WSL, as required
• Manage external agencies as required to deliver marketing objectives
• Provide a leadership role to represent the organization’s mission, vision, and values
• Positive representative of Whistler Sport Legacies, both internally and externally
• Maintain effective internal communications ensuring relevant WSL functions are kept informed of marketing objectives
• Develop and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders and partner organizations; share ideas and resources to improve operational efficiencies and management
• Represent WSL in the community, either in person or via media outlets, to promote and support WOP and WSL visitor programs, sport events, and seasonal operations
• Collaborate with other core departments to ensure a seamless guest experience

• Assist team with other duties as assigned or required

Education/Experience
• Minimum five years’ Sport, Tourism, and/or related Marketing experience required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communications or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• Experience required:
o delivering integrated marketing campaigns
o managing contracted agencies
o developing and executing a variety of social media accounts including updates and maintenance
o content development and communications
o working with cross-functional teams and managing contracted agencies
o multi-tasking to meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of branding, marketing (traditional and digital) strategies, techniques, and concepts
• Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license required
• History of delivering exceptional customer service is essential

Physical Requirements
• Ability to work and stand outdoors in variable weather conditions
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to regularly lift 30lbs
• Reliable transportation (WOP is not serviced by transit)
