The Gulf of Georgia Cannery, built in 1894 in the historic village of Steveston, is a living
monument to the people involved in BC’s fishing industry. The National Historic Site is operated
by the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, a non-profit society. Collaborating with Parks Canada,
the Society preserves the history of the BC fishing industry and presents it in an engaging and
We are seeking an outgoing and creative individual to join our Administration team who has a
passion for communication and reaching a diverse audience to share our stories. Our team and

significant part on how the Cannery is represented and is a great opportunity for someone who

Responsibilities & Qualifications

You have experience marketing within a not-for-profit setting or similar enterprise.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Digital Media or an equivalent
combination of education and work experience.
Fluent in English. Fluency in French an asset.
Demonstrated experience in overseeing marketing materials, creating publications and
digital media, preferably in a non-profit context.
Knowledge of current marketing industry standards, social media strategies and
marketing plan development is required.
High degree of familiarity with the tourism industry.
Demonstrated experience with public speaking and community outreach is preferred.
Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canva and video editing is an asset.
Experience with marketing exhibitions, programs, events is an asset.
Experience with Heritage Interpretation and Museum programming is an asset.
Exceptional record keeping and communication skills.
Proven success in leadership and managing people is an asset.
Access to a reliable vehicle required.
Hours: Full-Time permanent position at 37.5 hours weekly; this position requires a flexible
work schedule that can include evenings, weekends, and holidays to coordinate with programs
and event delivery.
$45,000 – $50,000 annually commensurate with experience and qualifications.
