The Role

This is a regular, full-time role working either a Tuesday to Saturday OR Sunday to Thursday shift.

The Museum Food & Beverage Supervisor is a new role at the Britannia Mine Museum. This is a front-line supervisor role that supports the daily operation of the Museum’s food and beverage services at the museum, including:

The Chatterbox Cafe

Special Events

Food and Beverage Kiosks

The Museum Food & Beverage Supervisor will work closely senior leadership in supporting the department to achieve annual sales growth targets set for the Chatterbox Cafe, and support the success of other collaborative Museum initiatives and strategies. This role will cross train with the Museum Retail Supervisor for optimal support and coverage.

This roles will supervise up to six employees and provide supervision, scheduling, on-boarding, training, coaching and problem solving support.

This role ensures that all food premises regulations are vigorously upheld and that cleanliness of the café and all food service areas is impeccable. Guests will be encouraged to continue their stay by visiting various on-site exhibits, as well as informed of products, promotions, and programs such as membership.  Guests who experience a challenge will have it resolved swiftly and smoothly, to their satisfaction. Retail and café sales will continue to increase. Ideas will be brought forward for consideration.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Welcoming guests, resolving customer challenges or complaints; escalating situations as needed and highlighting customer service opportunities.

Staff scheduling, onboarding and training and assist with performance evaluation.

Coordinating café stock and supplies (ordering, receiving, storage, monitoring, adjustments, returns, investigating purchasing system and software challenges and annual inventory processing).

Conduct opening and closing procedures, including proper daily cash handling processes, ensuring these are carried out accurately and consistently and that the café is clean and ready to welcome guests.

Serve customers in the Café; may include processing payments, cleaning and bussing duties, as well as making food and beverages as per the Museum’s standards, as well as following all applicable safe food handling procedures.

Use of databases and software related to delivery of guest services and processing of reservations and purchases.

Participate in the planning and implementation of special events.

Uphold the Museum’s Code of Conduct and Health & Safety Program.

 Safe food handling for establishments and knowledgeable with corresponding legislation.

Assists Museum Retail Supervisor (Cross Training):

– Processing purchases, greeting customers.

-Become an expert on Museum’s product knowledge.

– Provide coverage for team lunches and breaks.

-Cover duties of the Museum Retail Supervisor as needed.

-Communicates the Museum’s message and goals to visitors.
Qualifications:

Direct experience (2-5 years) supervising customer service operations.

Willing to complete a Criminal Record Check, as per the Museum’s policies.

Has or is willing to take to take Food Safe Level 1 as required.
