This role is a regular, full-time role at the Museum and will work either a Tuesday to Saturday OR Sunday to Thursday shift.

The Museum Retail Supervisor is a new role at the Britannia Mine Museum. This is a front-line supervisor role that supports the daily operation of the Museum’s Retail operations at the Museum’s retail space ‘The Company Store’.

The Museum Retail Supervisor will work closely with senior leadership to achieve annual sales growth targets set for the Company Store and to support the success of other collaborative Museum initiatives and strategies. This role will cross train with the Museum Food & Beverage Supervisor for optimal support and coverage.

The Museum Retail Supervisor will supervise up to six employees and provide supervision, scheduling, on-boarding, training, coaching and problem solving support.

Guests will be encouraged to continue their stay by visiting The Company Store and to visit various on-site exhibits, as well as informed of products, promotions, and programs such as membership.  Guests who experience a challenge will have it resolved swiftly and smoothly, to their satisfaction. Retail sales will continue to increase. Ideas will be brought forward for consideration.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Ensures that The Company Store portrays the Museum’s desired first impression by overseeing excellence in the Museum’s premier retail space (cleanliness, overall look of the area, appropriate levels of stock, customer satisfaction).

Welcome guests, resolving customer challenges or complaints; escalate situations as needed and highlights customer service opportunities.

Staff scheduling, onboarding and training and performance evaluation.

Retail merchandising of The Company Store including displays, keeping shelves stocked according to seasonal cycles.

Stock ordering, receiving inventory, sales adjustments, returns, investigating purchasing system and software challenges and coordination of the annual inventory process.

Assist guests in the retail store, including processing purchases, greeting customers; seeking out type, quality, and quantity of merchandise or services sought, as to best make recommendations.

Conduct opening and closing procedures, including proper daily cash handling processes, ensuring these are carried out accurately and consistently and that the café is clean and ready to welcome guests.

Use of databases and software related to delivery of guest services and processing of reservations and purchases.

Participate in the planning and implementation of special events.

Uphold the Museum’s Code of Conduct and Health & Safety Program.

Assists the Museum Food & Beverage Supervisor (Cross Training):

-Serve customers in the Café; may include processing payments, cleaning and bussing duties

-Make food and beverages as per the Museum’s standards.

-Follow all applicable safe food handling procedures.

-Support lunch and break coverage

-Cover duties of the Guest Services Supervisor (Food & Beverage) as needed.

-Communicate the Museum’s message and goals to visitors. 

Salary/Wage

26-30/hour

Important Information Resumes are welcomed from equity deserving groups. Wage Range $26.00 - $30.00 (based on experience). Applicants must have reliable transportation (car or carpool) to the Museum for all shifts (there is NO public transportation). Schedules include one or more weekend days and stat holidays (our busiest times). All employees must complete a Criminal Record Check in accordance with Museum Policies (covered by the Museum). Qualifications: ·         Direct experience (2-5 years) supervising customer service and retail operations. ·         Willing to complete a Criminal Record Check, as per the Museum’s policies. ·         Has or is willing to take to take Food Safe Level 1 as required.
