Overview
The Nordic Base Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing The Callaghan’s Base environment, ensuring the timely completion of service level agreements (SLAs), and maintaining a high standard of customer experience consistent with evo’s values. This role leads by example, training and providing feedback to team members while actively participating in various aspects of store management, including order fulfillment, inventory management, and customer service.
Your genuine interest in Nordic sport and the outdoors will give you the product knowledge required to relate to guests and close sales. Customer satisfaction and sales revenues are a key performance indicators, and you will be accountable for tracking and reporting these metrics. During slow times, you are expected to support the administrative, business development, and marketing initiatives of the company with a particular focus on elevating Nordic sport and community engagement.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Accountabilities:
· Setting up the Ski Shop at the start of the season/ Closing at the end of the season
· Provide overall supervision of evo Callaghan Ski Shop and Nordic Centre Agents – ensure consistent service excellence, safety, security, proper function, and cleanliness.
· Work directly with cross-functional partners in relation to collaborations with The Callaghan’s Base
· Obtain designated certification as deemed necessary by CCWA.
· Build, train, and develop a high-performing Nordic service team providing consistent actionable feedback, timely reviews, and ongoing coaching.
· Merchandise products in a way that optimizes sales
· Conducting performance measure evaluations and optimizing sales methods to increase ski shop revenues
· Account for all security issues involving cash, theft, liability and premises
· Maintain store inventory levels and assist in the development of purchase plans that co-ordinate successfully with fiscal sales projections
· Operate POS system and all related procedures (ie. process payments, perform daily cash-outs)
· Maintain accurate sign-out/return of rental inventory (check returned rentals for damage)
· Find the proper boot fit for each customer to create positive Nordic experiences
· Recommend equipment sizes and ensure they are set correctly for skill level (ski/pole lengths)
· Facilitate regular maintenance of rental equipment and ensure (tunes, mounts, waxes, assemblies, etc.) are completed properly and routinely, maintaining consistent and high-quality work standards
· Support management team and fully implement its policies and procedures conducting yourself as a role model for other team members
· Ensure all company forms and documents are submitted directly to the appropriate team member with record of transmission
· Utilize data and analytics to drive informed decision-making processes.
· Schedule and assign daily tasks of Nordic Service Team
· Monitor and maintain accurate timesheets for all Base team members
· Take responsibility for the overall customer and employee experience within The Callaghan Base.
· Implement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and create a positive work environment for employees.
· Development, planning, and implementation of seasonal recreation programs and special events
· Facilitate effective Base communication channels to ensure all team members are informed and aligned with organizational goals.
· Foster a culture of open communication and teamwork, promoting a cohesive and motivated store team.
· Cultivate strong and trust-based relationships with the Nordic Service team, delivering feedback, setting goals, and celebrating achievements.
· Provide necessary resources for the Nordic Service team to excel as a business, continually assess store needs, manage business expenses, and align with company strategies to deliver an exceptional retail experience.
· Nurture a growth-mindset employee experience and leverage business success to contribute positively to the local community.
· Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
· A valid Canadian SIN; unfortunately we are unable to assist out of country candidates who do not have a valid work permit for Canada.
· Must have own transportation (The Callaghan Valley is not serviced by transit)

· Valid CANSI Certification or Equivalent Nordic Ski Instructor Certification
· Valid First Aid Certificate
· 3 years of experience managing diverse teams and a strong passion for employee growth and development.
· 1 year of successful retail management experience in a complex, multi-channel, specialty retail environment, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
· An understanding of nordic ski operations and hands on involvement in the nordic ski environment either as an employee or volunteer
· Illustrated understanding of leadership skills and practices – patient, thoughtful, kind.
· Demonstrated ability to work with a team, set goals, and incorporate appropriate feedback from others.
· Ability to perform a variety of activities with a high level of accuracy within an, often, high-stress and fast paced work setting (reliably, during peak periods such as holidays)
· Poised communication skills, ability to maintain open and positive relationships with employees, customers, and other outside contacts.
· Demonstrated initiative in community and volunteer endeavours

Wage: The base wage for this role ranges from $18.00 to $22.00. Where you land in that range depends on your skills and experience, and we also factor in internal pay equity. While the full range is listed for this role, we rarely hire at the top of the range, leaving room for professional and financial growth in role.
