Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an energetic, detail orientated, team player who is self-motivated and creative to their craft to fill the position of Winery Sous Chef at Nk’Mip Cellar’s, North America’s first Aboriginal owned and operated winery overlooking Osoyoos Lake.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Role:
Our Nk’Mip Cellars culinary team is involved in daily food service to the public, as well as various private events. The successful candidate will report directly to our Nk’Mip Cellars Winery Chef. The successful candidate will be responsible to execute in partnership with the Winery Chef all planning, organizing and executing of all culinary driven efforts, while maintaining a focus on wine.

Monitoring culinary staffing levels.
Monitoring of stock levels.
Building upon existing relationships with our local farms and purveyors.
Communicating respectfully with direct and indirect reports.
Development / execution of seasonal menus and events.
Understanding of food and wine pairings.
Understanding and execution of organizational systems to ensure efficiency of day to day operations.
Assisting in the hiring and training of seasonal staff.

Job Requirements:
Minimum 2 Years of Previous Culinary Experience
Red Seal Certification an Asset
Previous Private Events & Catering Experience an Asset
Food Safe Level 2 Certification
Experience and Knowledge of Wine and Food Pairing
Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal & communications skills.
Ability to Multitask and has an Attention to Detail
Team Player
