We are seeking the next adventurous employee to join our team at The Hatch Waterfront Pub and 1909 Kitchen in beautiful Tofino, British Columbia.
We are searching for a committed, proactive Bar Manager who would enjoy work in an exciting, fast-paced environment. The Bar Manager will promote and grow the business, hire and train staff, and ensure that guests are receiving excellent drinks, food, and service. You will also manage inventory and resources, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, maintain current licenses and update vendor contracts, create schedules, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximize customer satisfaction.
In order to succeed as a Bar Manager, you should be observant and have the ability to think critically and efficiently. You should be a skilled communicator with excellent problem solving, observation, and interpersonal skills.
Core Job Responsibilities & Duties:
Collaborate with F&B Manager to implement departmental objectives and targets
Support F&B Manager to recruit and retain talent
Performance manage staff
Assess development needs for team training and education
Delegate duties and tasks to staff to meet objectives and maximize resources
Set and monitor quality and service standards for staff
Communicate company policy, standards and procedures to staff
Direct and manage staff members to meet standards and objectives
Ensure staff operate within company policies
Organize and adjust staffing levels and schedules in accordance with available resources and labor regulations
Oversee the preparation and presentation of beverages to meet set standards
Complete guest recoveries as needed
Inspire adherence to Covid 19 protocols and cleanliness of restaurant and bar
Promote and practice compliance with fire, health, safety and hygiene standards and regulations
Oversee accurate cash-up procedures and ensure necessary paperwork is complete
Ensure adherence to cash management procedures
Monitor par stocks and maintain supply levels as needed, with proper best practices
Liaise with suppliers and sales representatives
Make certain all deliveries are checked in correctly and documentation is correct
Oversee the bar display to maximize functionality and attractiveness
Set, monitor and control budget for the beverage unit/bar
Plan and implement cost control measures
Plan and implement systems to maximize sales and revenue
Organize promotional activities
Generate and present financial reports
Implement improvements for products and service
Maintain regular communication with staff and management through meetings and discussions
Bar or Restaurant management experience
WSET 3 or equivalent certification considered an asset
Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles
Knowledge of cost control procedures
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent administrative, problem-solving, and customer service skills

Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts
Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources
