COVID-19 Update May 2020
Last week British Columbia’s Premier John Horgan and Bonnie Henry our Public Health Officer (PHO) outlined BC’s Restart Plan, here is a link and I encourage you to view all the details: www.gov.bc.ca/restartbc .
As you will see in the plan, British Columbia is taking a careful and thoughtful approach to opening businesses and any changes to Provincial Orders or recommendations and providing new operating Regulations for a number of industries including both the restaurant and hotel industries. This will not be a quick process and we will not be “getting back to normal” but rather a gradual opening to a “new normal”. Specifically Hotels and Resorts as identified in Phase 3 (June – September) of the plan. Although Hotels are considered an Essential Service in British Columbia many, much like ourselves, have temporarily ceased operations until such time as it is safe for our staff and guests alike to reopen.
The Senior Management Team has been working hard during this temporary closure by staying in contact with our staff who were laid off in March, ensuring they are doing well, keeping busy and have the necessary support they need. We have also been keeping updated/abreast of latest COVID-19 information and researching new operating standards for the Inn to be in the position to re-open once we collectively feel it is the right time to do so. As we create these new standards we are constantly mindful of the safety of our staff who will be on “our” front lines taking care of our guests.
This process will take weeks and as such we will be focusing on ensuring our previous staff will be returning to the Inn and we have ample work for them rather than recruiting new members to our team at this time. Should you wish to be part of our time this Fall or later in 2020 or in 2021 we would be happy to speak with you however please understand there may be a delay in response times.
