Job Description: 

The Tasting Room & Events Manager is a leadership position overseeing our Tasting Room, reporting to the Director of Marketing. They will be responsible for the management of the Tasting Room team members including schedule, support and develop the team to ensure the Brewery is providing exceptional customer centric service; build Vancouver Island Brewing’s Community and Beer Community relations through strong event management leadership and execution; oversee merchandise and taproom sales activities; manage budget and analyze product demands, coordinate all tours and events within the brewery; and working with the marketing team, execute effective product launches at the brewery level, and oversee all events/sponsorships activation in-market.


  • Manage Tasting Room team members including scheduling, providing coaching and development opportunities, provide beer education and customer-centric service training
  • Develop a strong rapport with the local Victoria Community (within the community, with charities and at the District level), the Beer Community and with other local businesses
  • Collaborating with the retail store team, Marketing, Sales, and Brewing team to manage all Brewery events and tours
  • Manage the Tasting Room budget and propose forecasted resources, products and sales required.
  • Develop proposals to the SLT on execution programs to enrich our market presence at the Brewery to support sales and marketing initiatives, product launches and events
  • Oversee all marketing events and sponsorship activation, coordinating workflow, resources, scheduling and product requirements
  • Provide supportive services to sales and marketing through the detailed planning and coordination hosting opportunities and tours
  • Successfully resolve consumer complaints both in store, calls and online
  • Oversee online store, ensuring fulfillment, inventory management and services are delivered
  • Manage and track Tasting Room Sales programs including the keg rental program to ensure successful execution and analyze the program’s effectiveness.
  • Provide hands-on support to retail store team members when feasible including conducting tours, inventory counts, event execution, and provide service to the consumers.
  • Reporting of Tasting Room performance, weekly and monthly to SLT
  • Other duties as requested

Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary education in Business or Marketing
  • 3-5 years of retail and/or service industry experience (in the beverage industry is preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with short execution time frames
  • Professional communicator both verbally and written, with able to connect with people in various environments and in large groups
  • Exemplary work ethic and commitment to the consumer and their team
  • Highly organized, self-motivated with an ability to multi-task
  • Team-based leadership approach to facilitate the team development within the company
  • Proven ability to analyze a situation, proactively and creatively develop solutions to potential issues
  • Fluent in various Microsoft and database systems, particularly MS Office
  • Ability to manage POS system


  • Must be Serving It Right certified
  • Available to work weekends, evenings and special events
  • Valid drivers license with clean drivers’ abstract
