If you have a current business problem you’re looking to solve, marketing management students are looking for projects to work on as part of the BCIT Business Consulting Project. This opportunity provides students the chance to work over a 10-week period with an organization to solve a specific marketing problem or challenge. The students work in a small team (3-5 students) to study the problem, conduct research, and develop a comprehensive report and detailed recommendations. The result for your organization is a comprehensive written report and oral presentation outlining the student team’s marketing recommendations and solutions.
Examples of recent past projects include: a major chain hotel looking to rebrand a food & beverage outlet, a competitive analysis for a major public venue, research into the recruitment and retention of new workers for a large tourism employer, benchmarking study of loyalty marketing programs and client perceptions of various programs. BCIT is now looking for industry projects for the January start date of the this course.

As an industry, one of the best ways to recruit new workers to engage with our industry is through the support of practicums and school projects from students who have chosen to study tourism and hospitality at the university level. BCIT students in the final term of the Tourism Management diploma are seeking practicum placements for a 10 week period (4 days per week) from mid-March to the end of May 2019. Many tourism organizations such as Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Destination BC, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, and Land Sea Tours have seen the benefits of working with BCIT, and getting to the front of line in recruiting motivated and committed employees. The practicum program offers employers the chance to support and promote tourism as a career path, while providing the student a change to apply their classroom knowledge in the workplace.
