Working in partnership with the Canada West Ski Areas Association, the following safety resources have been added to the Resource Library.
Safety Talk Discussion Leader Package
All departments of a ski area are encouraged to hold regular Safety Talk meetings. This package provides a meeting record that should be completed for each discussion. Plus, a guide is included to help the discussion leader facilitate a meaningful conversation with his/her employees.
Safety Talk: Snow Sports Injury Reduction
This is a 2-part Safety Talk. Part 1 provides important reminders and tips that should be reviewed with all employees who may have to put on skis or a snowboard for work at some point in the season. Part 2 provides specific information to Snow School Instructors and Patrol, who ski as the primary part of their job.
Poster: Before You Hit the Slopes
Print this poster and place in staff areas, such as upper lift huts, lunch rooms, ski storage rooms, patrol huts, etc. This is an important reinforcement tool to use in conjunction with the Snow Sports Injury Reduction Safety Talk.
Safety Talk: Knee Injury Reduction
Knee injuries are the most common skiing injury. Use this tool to review specific risks and tips related to knee injuries. This talk is a companion to the Snow Sports Injury Reduction Safety Talk.
There are numerous tools and resources available for ski areas to support your occupational health and safety initiatives. The resources above and more are available on our website at www.go2hr.ca/skisafety.
