WorkSafeBC Student Safety Video Contest
January 16, 2019
go2HR is pleased to be a sponsor of the 2019 WorkSafeBC Student Safety Video Contest.
BC students in grades 8 to 12, with the support of a teacher or youth organization sponsor, are encouraged to submit a video no more than 2 minutes that explores the topic of employers’ health and safety responsibilities when hiring and employing workers under the age of 25.
Employers, talk to local school districts about getting students involved! You can help incorporate more awareness and education around safety in the BC tourism industry – some ideas might be to offer your workplace as a setting for the video, or encouraging your younger staff members within that age range to enter the contest.
This year’s contest theme is “You’re the employer: How do you keep your young workers safe?” There’s more than $10,000 in prize money to be awarded to students and their schools or youth organizations. All styles of video are fair game: drama, comedy, documentary, music video, stop-motion, claymation, animation, etc. Entries will be judged on the impact of their safety message, original creative concept, and technical execution. The top entry will also advance to the national Focus on Safety Youth Video Contest to compete for additional prizes.
