Northern BC Regional Labour Market Study

Northern BC, with an already tight labour market, is facing the added pressure of expanding mining, oil and gas sectors that are enticing young workers to take positions. By 2020, it is anticipated that the region will have 3,810 job openings, with a labour shortage of 432. The food & beverage and recreation & entertainment sectors will be the hardest hit.
