FOODSAFE by Distance Education offered through go2HR

The FOODSAFE Level 1 by Distance Education course is the distance learning option for British Columbia’s food safety, handling, and sanitation training. The Level 1 program equips foodservice workers with the knowledge and skills to apply proper food handling and preparation techniques and to follow appropriate safety measures to prevent food-borne illness.

Offered only through go2HR, FOODSAFE by Distance Education is ideal for individuals who want to learn at their own pace, employers wanting to train staff in-house, and people in remote areas where classroom courses are not readily accessible.

Why should you take FOODSAFE Level 1 by Distance Education?

  • Flexible: Study at your own pace, during times that work for you.
  • Accessible: Register, self-study independently and take the exam locally. No online content or classroom attendance is required.
  • Efficient: Certification is possible within two weeks of registering.
  • Affordable: The cost of the distance education version is competitive with the classroom and online options.
  • It’s the Law: Foodservice establishments are legally required for at least one staff member to hold a valid FOODSAFE certification at any given time.
  • Get Hired: Many hospitality employers require FOODSAFE Level 1 as a condition of employment. FOODSAFE certification makes you work-ready and available for shifts.
