Okanagan College Wins Regional Winning Pitch Competition. Thanks to the schools, students, mentors and judges who participated in the 2018/19 Thompson Okanagan Winning Pitch competition, held during the TOTA Annual Summit in Osoyoos. Team AccessFest from Okanagan College will move on to pitch their business plan at the provincial competition during the 2019 Tourism Industry Conference in Vancouver. Read more

Serving it Right Updated with Cannabis Information. With the Government of Canada legalizing recreational use of cannabis, and the Province of BC implementing a new regulatory framework, the Serving It Right course and exam have been updated. The changes reflect the need for increased vigilance by licensees and staff around intoxicated patrons, particularly those co-using alcohol and cannabis. More Information

2018 Canadian Tourism Sector Compensation Study. Is your compensation package competitive? The 2018 Canadian Tourism Sector Compensation Study is now underway. Tourism employers from accommodations, food and beverage services, recreation and entertainment, and travel services are encouraged to participate. Tim Foster has joined Sun Peaks Resort as the Director of Sports Programs and Activities. Ian Logan has been promoted to Director of Snow Sports Schools.

The Cove Lakeside Resort welcomed Ruth Campbell as their new HR Administrator and Ericson Adame as Front Office Manager.

Big White Ski Resort announced Michael Richards as their new Director of Mountain Sports.

Amy Thompson has been promoted to Director, Brand & Marketing at Tourism Kamloops.

SilverStar Mountain Resort has hired Ian Jenkins as their new Sales and Marketing Director.

Ross Baker is the new winemaker at West Kelowna’s Quails’ Gate Winery.
Congratulations to Derek Kontkanen, lead winemaker at Inniskillin Okanagan, who won the World’s Best Product Trophy for Best Dessert Wine at the
International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) in London, England.

Congratulations also to Okanagan Crush Pad owner Christine Coletta who was honoured with the Founders Awards at this year’s Okanagan Fall Wine Festival.
