Job Description

Do you love food and everything about it? We are looking to recruit 2nd Cooks for the upcoming season. While working alongside a friendly and knowledgeable team, you can take the time to enjoy mountain life right at your fingertips. The 2nd Cook is an ambassador within the kitchen operations relating to food production, health and safety, sanitation, and food handling. The environment is bustling as three unique kitchens providing complete food and beverage services to all Guests of the Hotel. This role provides the opportunity to continue developing your career in the culinary industry, opening opportunities for advancement internally and externally throughout the Sun Peaks Grand and Sun Peaks Resort. Responsibilities & Qualifications

Physical Requirement:

Physical Class: Heavy (H) Work activities involve handling loads more than 20 kg

Accountabilities:

Responsible for working at a designated station within an assigned kitchen
Responsible for all aspects of safe food handling, food preparation, quality and quantity control measures, and execution of dishes.
Ensures assigned food station is up to department standards and equipment meets health and safety standards
Ensures opening and closing procedures are followed for assigned station
Adheres to the cleaning schedule and the equipment cleaning details
Oversees the correct preparation of all special dietary requests as per established guidelines
Demonstrates dedication to a creative and positive work environment, fostering a collaborative approach with all F&B team members
Communicates clearly
Ideal Candidate:

1 year of culinary experience, preferably within a Hotel / Resort environment
Production and Banquet experience is an asset
Working towards a career in culinary or a Red Seal Certification
Holds a current Food Safe Level 1 Certification
Thorough understanding of kitchen operations
Self-disciplined with a sincere desire to provide an elevated guest experience
Self-starts on tasks and can respond to varying business volumes as they relate to impacts on the kitchen
Is physically capable of working in a fast-paced environment and safely lifting heavy loads of around 20kg
