Wage & Pay Grade: $20.53/hr. (PG74) plus 10% in lieu of benefits & vacation

Who we are…
The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 114-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15-day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. The PNE is proud of the work it does at Hastings Park and has a vibrant team that is passionate about events, guest experience and delivering memorable experiences.

The Fair and Festival Operations department oversees the PNE’s 3 main events: The Fair, Fright Nights, and Winter Lights

Fright Nights at the PNE is Western Canada’s Scariest Haunt; key features are roaming Scare Actors, Haunted Houses and other attractions and atmospheric programming on-site within Playland.

We are looking for motivated and hardworking individuals who have a passion for the haunt industry and have extensive experience in live events or TV/Film production. The Festival Programs Supervisors will report to the Festival Programs Managers and will be responsible for overseeing an attraction, provide clear communication of issues to the respective team members, and carry out safety protocols as outlined by the Festival Programs Managers, and Assist management with production elements during the run of the season.

Our ideal candidates will possess strong organizational & communication skills and will have a background in production, theater, or film. The Festival Programs Supervisor will work in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafeBC, and all other applicable legislation and company policies.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What will you DO this year?

In your role as our Festival Programs Supervisor, your primary accountabilities will be to:
-Assist with various Festival Programs operational tasks, including but not limited to crowd control, aiding actors, first point of contact for guests inquiries.
-Provide a safe environment for all actors & other team members.
-Provide training, coaching, and oversee the performance of all assigned actors.
-Report any deficiencies with the attraction to maintenance & managerial staff.
-Report any issues with staff or guests to respective team members.
-Oversee attraction readiness through daily pre check.
-Oversee all safety procedures & protocol within your attraction.
-Oversee the throughout of attraction.

Event Responsibilities
-Overseeing the safe & scary function of your assigned attraction.
-Assist Management & supervisory team as needed.
-Assist & provide coaching to actors as needed.
-Checking operation of attraction on regular basis through the evening.
-Assist with attraction readiness prior to opening.
-Assist with safety procedures and protocols.
-Other duties as assigned.

What else?
-Must have successfully completed grade 12.
-Ability to deal with confidential matters and conduct themselves in a professional demeanor
-Ability to function both independently and in a team environment
-Ability to work a variety of shifts from May – October 31st evenings, weekends, and late nights
-Post-secondary education or training in a relevant discipline such as Production Assistant experience within TV/Film, Theatre, or other related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is considered an asset.
-Experience within a supervisory position.
-Experience coaching actors considered and asset.
-Experience within the Halloween Industry is considered an asset.
-Ability to work a flexible schedule.
-Must be proactive with the ability to trouble shoot and remain calm in stressful situations.
-Ability to work outdoors, in various weather, and spend a large part of the workday walking, and standing.
-Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
